The mission of the Hands of Christ After School Program is to provide a safe, nurturing environment for at-risk children in the Cartersville community during the out-of-school hours. Children receive academic support from a qualified staff of teachers and co-teachers who provide a variety of tutorial, remedial, and enrichment activities. This non-profit program gives the educational and social assistance needed to foster successful students and future citizens. A small yearly registration fee is the only cost to families.

The Hands of Christ Program is a ministry of First Presbyterian Church where it meets every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday coinciding with the Cartersville City School System calendar. Students in kindergarten through fourth grade are bused to the program immediately following school and remain until 6:00 p.m. During that time children complete homework, participate in art, music and computer technology, and are offered a variety of fun and enriching activities and field trips. A nutritious meal is served each day before the children depart for home. Transportation is available for those who require the service.

In addition to the activities provided during the school year, Hands of Christ also offers summer day-camp programs. The summer schedule runs all day for three to four weeks each summer. Each week offers a different theme of study, activities, and field trips.

The Hands of Christ After School Program provides a secure haven that is drug-free and safe from violence and other negative influences. It is a community outreach that offers an array of services and support for both the child and family. For more information on how to enroll a child, serve as a volunteer, or make a donation:
